Strategic Purchaser - Subcontractor / Installation Services
Madrid | Hybrid Working
An international engineering and industrial solutions business is strengthening its procurement team in Spain as part of an ambitious growth phase. With a substantial pipeline of complex infrastructure and installation projects across the country, we are looking to appoint a Strategic Purchaser to lead the subcontractor services category.
This is a key role managing approximately €50M annual spend across installation-related auxiliary works supporting major projects such as transport hubs, airports, landmark buildings and technically complex developments.
The Role
You will take ownership of the subcontractor services category in Spain, working closely with project teams, engineering, operations and senior stakeholders to ensure commercial excellence across large, project-driven environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and executing sourcing strategies for subcontractor and installation services
Leading complex negotiations with regional and national contractors
Managing supplier performance, contracts, SLAs and risk mitigation
Supporting major projects from pre-tender through execution phase
Driving cost optimisation while maintaining safety, quality and compliance standards
Consolidating supplier base and building long-term strategic partnerships
This is not an operational buyer role - we are seeking someone capable of handling high-value negotiations and influencing senior internal stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
3-7+ years' experience in strategic or project procurement
Strong background in subcontractor / contractor management
Experience in installation, construction, engineering services or project-driven categories
Exposure to indirect procurement with transferable technical categories
Engineering background (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial or similar) highly valued
Commercial mindset with strong negotiation capability
Structured, proactive and hands-on personality
Fluent Spanish and good English (international reporting line)
Candidates from construction, industrial manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, transport systems, or other technical project environments will be particularly relevant.
Why Apply?
Join a growing organisation with a significant project pipeline in Spain
Be part of a strategic procurement function with real influence
Exposure to large-scale, technically complex projects
Competitive package: €50-60,000 + bonus
Hybrid working model (Madrid-based with travel)
If you are looking to move into a role with greater strategic impact and visibility in a high-growth environment, this could be the right next step.
