Location: Hybrid (1 day per week in Oxfordshire)

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies to deliver sustainable savings.

  • Lead complex and high-risk procurements, ensuring compliance with the Procurement Act 2023.

  • Improve supplier performance and post-award contract management through SLAs and KPIs.

  • Drive procurement system and process transformation to improve efficiency and usability.

  • Provide leadership and development for Category Managers.

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to enhance customer service and procurement outcomes.

  • Represent the organisation at external procurement and industry events.


Essential Requirements

  • MCIPS qualified or actively working towards it.

  • Significant experience in managing diverse procurement categories (CapEx & OpEx).

  • Proven ability to deliver strategic cost savings and implement procurement transformation.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Deep understanding of procurement regulations and contract lifecycle management.

  • Skilled in supplier relationship management, e-procurement platforms, and performance tracking.


Desirable

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification.

  • Public sector or higher education procurement experience.

  • Knowledge of ESG, social value, and responsible procurement practices.
