As a Procurement Category Manager, you'll lead delivery of sourcing category projects and aligned supplier management activities. You'll create strong collaborative partnerships with senior customers to influence business priorities and understand future trends and requirements. You'll lead on all activities in line with all relevant Group policies and within Group risk appetite.

This is multi-location so you can be based EITHER Leeds, Edinburgh, Bristol. 2 days a week in the office.

Essentially high calibre individuals with experience across Indirect Services categories who would have the potential to be able to pick up and learn the PS/legal categories (if they don't have it already).

You will be responsible for:

  • Inputting into category and sub-category strategies reflecting external market conditions whilst optimising the cost of ownership to deliver sustainable strategic direction for the business
  • Delivering opportunities that drive down cost and deliver value for goods and/or services through the identification of cost saving initiatives in line with the Group's targets and objectives
  • Developing effective relationships with key internal stakeholders to increase their awareness of sourcing and support for sourcing initiatives
  • Helping to identify best practices, ascertain stakeholder's future requirements and where appropriate, responding to changes in the internal and external business environment to secure best value from third party expenditure
  • Leading cross functional teams through the sourcing process, leveraging economies of scale through robust contract negotiations, supplier selection and management of the commercial aspects of the 3rd party supplier relationships
  • Applying knowledge of contractual terms and conditions ensuring appropriate risk mitigation embedded into supply contracts to provide high quality services to the Group
  • Working collaboratively with the supplier management teams to develop and implement the appropriate supplier governance structure ensuring effective contract handover
  • Reporting and tracking financial benefits versus pipeline and targets, identifying potential risks
  • Undertaking all activities in line with all relevant Group policies and within Group risk appetite, ensuring compliance to all policies, procedures and systems providing an efficient and auditable sourcing trail that will ensure robust risk management.
  • Maintaining an up to date awareness of own specialist area and market dynamics, taking action accordingly to ensure the best contracts are in place to meet stakeholder needs.


What you'll need

  • Sourcing expertise, with a specific knowledge and experience of negotiating contracts and procurement category management ideally for Legal/Professional Services but not essential.
  • Experience in developing and managing sourcing projects within dynamic environments
  • Ability to articulate, influence and translate strategic objectives from business clients into effective sourcing strategies, approaches and delivery
  • Success in development of relationships with key internal colleagues and evidence of working as a trusted and valued business partner
  • An upbeat, resilient, and adaptable style, with success in constantly evolving environments
