Senior Subcontract Manager - London
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Subcontract Manager - London to provide a considerable contribution to a specific project; leading the installation subcontract effort (>£100m) and a small team in this flagship, multi-national programme.
This is an excellent, development opportunity for an ambitious individual and is a key position within the project team. It is a full time, permanent position based in London.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing the Subcontract Management Team to meet the needs of the project
- Act as the single point of contact for all project specific installation subcontract issues
- Drive Continuous Improvement throughout the life cycle of the installation subcontracts
- Direct negotiations in the commitment of subcontracts whilst interpreting customer contract terms and conditions to intelligently construct subcontract terms and conditions accordingly
- Monitoring of Subcontracts performance and managing any non-performance issues. Monitor subcontractor cost, quality and schedule accomplishments against subcontract requirements
- Direct a team to manage contractual relationships with the Subcontractors, acting as commercial/contractual points of contact
Skills & Attributes
- Extensive experience of Sub Contractor Management of major subcontracts, within Rail, Transportation or project environment such as Telecoms, Utilities, Infrastructure
- Previous exposure to high value subcontracts (in excess of £5m), high in complexity and high in risk. Including working with subcontractors who are also competitors on other projects
- Relevant procurement, commodity and category management experience
- Strong Stakeholder management skills with the ability to interface well and influence effectively at all levels including internally and externally with customers, partners and subcontractors
- NEC and/or JCT contract experience
- Experience of working in a multi-discipline team environment
- Subcontract/Quantity Surveying/ CIPS degree or equivalent
- Management and leadership skills
- Proven Complex Negotiation skills
- Post Contract management skills
- Deep understanding of Contract law

- A strategic thinker who has the ability to work innovatively with sometimes unclear briefs; a persistent and tenacious high achiever, with the ability to quickly learn new skills and concepts with the desire to become a future specialist, manager or leader.
- Experience of working under the auspices of BS 11000
- Positive contractual dispute management experience
- Commercial and financial experience
- Experience in the Rail environment
- Business or Engineering related degree
