Senior Buyer - £45,000 - £50,000 (Leicester, LE8)

Role: Senior Buyer/Manager

Salary: Up to £50,000

Location: Leicester, United Kingdom

One of my Clients within the Automotive industry is currently looking for a Senior Buyer/Purchasing Manager who is looking to take the next step up in their career to manage a team of three people. This role will be autonomous with responsibility of the whole Purchasing function within the SME Business reporting into the COO.

Experience within the Automotive or Plastics industry is preferred but a strong manufacturing background will also be considered. (Experience within an SME business is also a bonus)

Responsibilities:

• Manage stock holding in line with business requirements and monitor stock provision levels across the business.
• Manage three direct reports in a coordinator, buyer and a trainee buyer.
• To ensure the business has a competitive and stable series of suppliers.
• To drive cost out of the supply chain in a logical and structured manner.
• To rationalise the supplier base where possible.
• To operate in partnerships with all key suppliers.
• Strategic purchasing with main commodity groups including indirect (supporting other UK group companies).
• Procurement project support for all UK subsidiaries.
• Annual contract negotiations and renewals.
• Balanced view supplier selection, encompassing the needs of other key departments in the business.
• Ensuring that by example the department is not only effective and efficient, but is seen to be by all other departments.

About you:

• Previous Automotive experience.
• Experience of working in an SME.
• Good purchasing awareness to ensure that the best interests of the business are protected.
• Experience of working in a Manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
• Proven experience in a purchasing role.
