Role: Procurement Specialist / Buyer
Location: Southwest Malaysia
Join a leading global engineering organisation that's creating a brand-new procurement function to drive site procurement. This is a rare opportunity to be part of that journey from the start - supporting the structured creation of procurement within a highly technical and collaborative environment. This will be in conjunction with the global procurement team based in Europe.
As Procurement Specialist, you'll be central to ensuring the smooth flow of materials and services for the day-to-day needs of a busy engineering-led operation. Working closely with the Procurement Manager and wider site teams, you'll manage purchase orders, coordinate with suppliers, and help put consistent, compliant procurement processes in place.
This is a hands-on, varied role - ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of operational buying, cross-functional coordination, and learning opportunities within a global business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and procurement of goods and services to meet operational needs.
- Source suppliers, request quotations, and compare offers based on quality, cost, and lead time.
- Raise and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure procurement aligns with project or maintenance timelines.
- Monitor inventory levels with the warehouse team to manage stock and avoid delays.
- Keep procurement records up to date in the ERP system (Oracle), including contracts, receipts, and supplier information.
- Flag any issues around compliance, documentation, or process gaps to the Procurement Manager.
- Contribute to regular reporting on procurement activity and supplier performance.
About You
- Procurement experience within a technical or engineering-led company
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Some experience in negotiation, supplier communication, and working across teams.
- Eager to learn and grow in a high-performing, global environment.
- Background in engineering, industrial, energy, or infrastructure sectors is a strong advantage.
