Procurement Specialist
Location: Cape Town
Reporting to: Director, Procurement Operations
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join a newly established global procurement function based in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping procurement operations from the ground up, embedding best practice, and delivering long-term value across the organisation.
This role goes beyond transactional purchasing. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to lead sourcing initiatives, strengthen supplier relationships, ensure compliance, and support the development of a high-performing procurement function that enables future growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic sourcing: Lead and support RFQs and RFPs, evaluate suppliers, and manage commercial negotiations to secure optimal value.
Operational procurement: Oversee purchase order preparation and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services in line with agreed service levels.
Stakeholder engagement: Partner with internal teams to understand requirements and deliver procurement solutions that balance value, compliance, and risk.
Supplier onboarding & risk management: Support the onboarding of new suppliers in line with Third-Party Risk Management policies.
Supplier relationship management: Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and foster strong partnerships that encourage continuous improvement and innovation.
Category & strategic support: Collaborate with Category Managers to execute category plans and contribute to procurement strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in a Procurement Specialist or similar role.
Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Adaptable, collaborative team player comfortable operating in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with procurement systems is an advantage.
Understanding of compliance requirements, risk management principles, and regulatory frameworks is beneficial.
