My client is one of Europe's largest independent bulk handling companies. They have products at 18 sites across 6 countries and hold a unique independent position in the supply chain of bulk goods for a wide range of products providing customers tailored services and first-class access to Europe's deepest draft terminals and excellent hinterland connectivity by barge, rail, and truck.
They hire and develop the most passionate people in their field to help build a better working world and is currently looking for a dynamic and motivated Procurement Specialist to take an ownership of procurement operation.
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for the purchases of one of our clients' terminals on a strategic, tactical, and operational level. Through close cooperation with your colleagues from the various departments, you are the go-to person and sparring partner for contracts and the fulfillment of purchasing needs. You lead the procurement process and have a central role in contract management.
This is an exciting new role where you can be actively involved in category management with your purchasing colleagues from other terminals. As a Lead Buyer you are responsible for multiple terminal-crossing spend categories where you tender, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements. Both decentralized and central, your goal is simple: Contributing to maximum operating results and minimizing strategic vulnerability.

- You are jointly responsible for the purchasing policy and procedures and monitor compliance with them.
- Analysing and specifying the user needs and the possibilities of the suppliers.
- You do this in good cooperation with your internal customers.
- You act as the link between departments and ensure that communication runs smoothly.
- Selecting and assessing potential suppliers, products and/or services. In consultation with suppliers, you are open to alternative proposals, and you are actively looking for product innovation, cost savings and process improvements.
- Based on your knowledge, experience, and the results of thorough market research, you develop tender documents and coordinate them with your internal customers.
- You conduct the negotiations, record the results, and elaborate them in (framework) agreements.
To be successful in this role, you have
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in a procurement or supply chain role.
- You already bring experience in writing purchasing contracts.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with good knowledge of Dutch and English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A positive and proactive attitude and you enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment.
