Security Clearance: SC Cleared (preferred) or eligible to obtain
Company Overview:
We are partnering with a leading UK defence organisation responsible for delivering and managing key infrastructure and engineering programmes critical to national security. With a reputation for technical excellence and complex project delivery, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support ongoing capital works and commercial operations on a long-term interim basis.
Role Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor will join a high-performing commercial team, providing expert cost and contract management services across a range of infrastructure and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with NEC contracts and be confident working within secure and highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide end-to-end commercial support on infrastructure projects (pre-contract and post-contract phases)
Manage cost planning, forecasting, and control
Lead procurement activities and tender evaluation processes
Administer and manage NEC3/4 contracts
Conduct contract reviews and assess applications for payment, variations, and compensation events
Prepare commercial reports, cost estimates, and value engineering assessments
Support contract negotiations, claims management, and dispute resolution
Ensure compliance with internal governance and public sector procurement policies
Liaise with project managers, engineers, legal teams, and external contractors to support project delivery
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within infrastructure or defence projects
Strong knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts (essential)
Experience working in secure, regulated sectors such as defence, nuclear, or major government infrastructure
Ability to manage commercial risk and deliver high-quality reporting under pressure
SC Clearance preferred, or eligible and willing to undergo vetting
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Relevant degree (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar) and/or professional membership (e.g., RICS, CICES) desirable
