Interim Procurement & Contracts Manager required to join a leading chemicals and sustainable technology organisation in Hertfordshire on an initial 6 month contract paying between £500 - £750 per day.
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Programme procurement / contracting strategy, ensuring this is delivered appropriately to the project management teams. Responsible for the definition, implementation and review of best practice processes and performance; managing stakeholders to agree objectives and schedules.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ownership of all Procurement input into related Capex projects, consistent with agreed scope
- Establish/ optimise contract strategy for each project in the investment programme
- Create procurement and contracts plans, engaging with Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure this is mapped out in full, robust and up to date
- Ensure the procurement activity for all packages are conducted in a competitively bid and transparent manner; in accordance with project delivery requirements
- Lead procurement of critical & high value packages in a timely manner, negotiating cost savings and mitigating supply risk on the project
- Lead the procurement team - coaching, directing and performance managing to deliver best practice project procurement activities
- Monitor performance of suppliers and support Project Managers mitigate project risk
- Act as point of contact for escalated issues and disputes with contractors
You must be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience within a Procurement / Contracts management role
- Experience project management gained within the construction industry (Desirable)
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or chemical process industry
- Experienced in leading and managing a team
- Knowledge of quality standards, tools and processes
- Understanding of IChemE & FIDIC type contract templates (Desirable)
Rate: £500 - £750 p/d
