One of the worlds largest and most innovative sustainable technology firms has an urgent requirement for an Global Payroll Programme Lead.

This is a 6-month interim contract offering up to £750 p/d inside IR35. Hybrid working between WFH and Central London Offices.

Global Payroll Programme Lead

  • Accountable for the successful migration of payroll in 27 countries from the existing platforms to a single new supplier
  • Lead all elements of a global payroll migration and deployment programme
  • Lead steering committee meetings and promote best practise approach to global payroll
  • Define the Future Payroll Strategy and supporting Operating Model. Extending to leading the associated implementation.
  • Define Global Payroll Processes and associated controls, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of payroll payments, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Define Payroll Risk and Control Matrix (RACM)
  • Lead the business change
  • Manage external suppliers and consultancies

Required Skills

  • Experience in all elements above
  • Significant knowledge of Payroll processing and governance, including compliance and auditing
  • Experience with HR Processes and operating models across a matrixed cross functional environment
  • Experience with Global payroll, across multiple countries spanning APAC, EMEA, AMER (replace multiple with "more than ten")
  • Programme Governance experience
  • Proven Senior Stakeholder Management
  • Delivery focused, whilst being sensitive to impact
  • Influencing; senior to junior, global to local

Programme Overview

As part of the HR Digital strategy to simplify and consolidate our estate; we are seeking assistance to realise an objective to improve our payroll landscape.

The client currently has 51 unique payrolls across 29 Payroll System instances, which creates complexity, processing inefficiencies, a lack of standardised reporting capabilities, and an increased risk of audit and compliance issues; and ultimately increased payroll cost (both supplier and internal resource)​.

Our goal is to partner with a single vendor who can meet our overall strategy to provide payroll solutions across 27 in scope countries. Involving but not limited to, calculating gross to net, banking, reporting, service resources, and integrations with our existing HRIS and ERP systems.

Programme Objectives

  1. Consolidation of payrolls with central visibility
  2. Standardised payroll processes that are scalable to different country sizes
  3. Leverage integrations with Workday, Absence, Time and Attendance, and ERP platforms
  4. Improve audit, compliance and disaster recovery of payroll elements
  5. Provide insightful payroll analytics
  6. Offer streamlined treasury services with staged approval steps
  7. Scalable to new legal entities or countries
  8. Sustain more efficient processing cycles
  9. Deliver improved ROI from our payroll processing
