Interim Functional Engineer Packaging £434pd

A number of incredibly exciting Interim Functional Engineer roles, sitting with a FTSE 100, global player in FMCG, to drive innovation and automation in the Packaging space.

Initial contracts to the end of June, but with strong scope to extend depending on success, these roles are offering up to £434 per day (umbrella, inside IR35), with a hybrid approach to working from home and in offices in Scotland.

This role will require flexibility to travel both UK-wide and globally, to support their packaging supplier base, Third Party Organisations, and packaging solutions.

The Role:

These Interim Functional Engineer roles will be in support of Packaging Brand Change, Innovation, Support, Evaluation and Assessment, including CAPEX evaluations and ensuring fit for purpose.

You will ensure adherence to technical standards, create functional requirements specifications on an individual and line basis, and support consultations for the CAPEX Engineering Community.

These roles will also drive Change in packaging and packaging processes to align with the organisation's robust sustainability targets, providing support to over 90 packaging sites globally.

Role 1: Brand Innovation.

You will focus on Brand Change and Innovation, across a significant amount of brand change projects yearly (c.800). You will evaluate and work to understand what it will mean to introduce the new product into the portfolio.

Role 2: Logistics Automation.

You will focus on logistics mechanisation and automation capabilities, shaping and driving the automation agenda. You will identify solution providers to support on this, including LGVs, container loading and unloading, automated handling systems, and the feed of raw materials into the production process.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in a Packaging environment, with knowledge across Packaging materials, equipment and line design.
  • New Product Development experience and an understanding of packaging interfaces.
  • Excellent stakeholder management ability.
  • Technical expertise to scope, develop, evaluate, and cost, major Packaging and Automation projects.
  • Functional leadership ability, within a global engineering team.
  • Prior large, global, matrix organisation exposure.
  • Full, valid driving license and passport.
