Interim Financial Controller - Hertfordshire

Interim Financial Controller required for an initial 3 month contract in Hertfordshire with a Global manufacturing leader.

Accountabilities;

  • Build a culture of accountability and ownership over a practical and effective control environment
  • Deliver insightful reporting to ensure that senior management and the business clearly understand the numbers and what drives them in order to make correct business decisions and provide support in these decisions
  • Work closely with the Financial Accounting team to ensure there are robust and effective controls in the business in order to safeguard the assets of the shareholders
  • Work closely with the Metal Control team to ensure as a function we provide the highest levels of control and governance over our metal and metal movements which is a substantial risk.
  • Exercise judgement over complex metal accounting principles and provide commentary as appropriate to the business to ensure understanding
  • Provide support on strategic projects from the business
  • Oversee the Finance involvement in the annual stock take process. Ensure there is a well-documented and controlled process and that material control results have been fully audited and checked by the Financial Accounting team
  • Provide financial support to the business strategies to promote year on year profitability growth
  • Act as an internal financial and business consultant, providing insight and challenge to enable members of the business to deliver their strategic plans and objectives in line with corporate goals
  • Support the team with the identification and prioritisation of key training and development needs
  • Review and challenge during the strategic business planning, budgeting and forecasting process to ensure that the financial numbers submitted accurately reflect what is happening within the business
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team to enable individuals feel rewarded and challenged at work

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of metal accounting (Desirable)
  • Key knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting principles a high controlled environment
  • An ability to provide innovative solutions to problems
  • Able to provide insight to the business operations from a strategic and operational viewpoint
  • Professional Accounting Qualification
  • 7+ years post qualification experience
  • High level of numeracy, working with systems and data
  • Knowledge of ERP (SAP) or similar systems
  • Strong background in effective controls and governance frameworks
  • Understanding of good governance control mechanism and effective process design
  • Previous experience of management within Finance
