My Public Sector Client and their Procurement Services provides procurement and supply chain management services across all members, currently looking for the Head of Sustainability & Social Value, responsible for developing and delivering sustainability and social value to be delivered through the whole supply chain.

The responsibility of the Head of Sustainability and Social Value starts in engaging with senior stakeholders to inform on the ability for the supply chain to deliver enhanced sustainability and social value to inform Member requirements, including leading the process of agreeing targets.

The Head of Sustainability and Social Value will be responsible for working with the Category Management and Sourcing teams to give effect to sustainability and social value targets in procurement projects.

Other responsibilities:

  • Working with stakeholders to establish sustainability and social value targets to be delivered.
  • Developing policy and targets (to be given by Category Management and Sourcing teams).
  • Reviewing delivery of sustainability and social value and updating policy and targets as appropriate to give effect to targets set.
  • Providing and receiving highly complex, sensitive or contentious information when dealing with a range of issues from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivering significant customer value/ highly sensitive or highly contentious information where there have been significant barriers to acceptance which needed to be overcome.
  • Establish professional relationships with identified stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing the Sustainability team in accordance with NWL PS strategies and corporate objectives, adding value to NWL Members.
  • Highlight, promote and report innovative approaches relevant to Sustainability & Social Value.
  • Responsible for oversight of delivery of NWL PS sustainability and social value targets.

To be successful in this role, you

  • Post Graduate Diploma or working towards Membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or other appropriate professional institute or relevant experience.
  • Significant experience managing and leading projects.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent level of experience), evidence of CPD
  • Experience of developing a sustainability programme delivering demonstrable benefits.
  • Senior management experience across multiple sites or organisations. Experience of complex change management.
  • Evidence of developing complex strategies, business plans and programmes Evidence of developing effective teams, including virtual teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and prioritising a large budget with solid working knowledge of financial process requirements.
  • Experience in formulating long term strategic plans, involving uncertainly and impact on the organisation.
  • Experience in policy implementation and development for a directorate or equivalent.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining general policies.
