Head of Sourcing Logistics

Our client is a Major Global Service Organisation who is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Sourcing to cover procurement of Logistics and Warehousing based in their site office in South Wales. The business is undergoing change and growth and this individual will have the ability to further develop and drive FM and Logistics/warehousing category processes within an FMCG organisation.


Key Responsibilities:

Based on site in South Wales you will develop, train and manage a team of 4-6 direct reports implementing best practice throughout the procurement function

Oversee and develop category strategy across food service spend for the UK and Ireland

Oversee, Design and Implement category strategies which significantly improve the commercial performance at a regional level whilst maintaining compliance to company policy and standards and mitigating all risk.

Engage with the global buying teams in an active collaboration for developing categories globally

Engage with the acquisition buying teams in an active collaboration for developing categories

Build a strong network within the Supply Management both at a regional and local level understanding logistics process on a global basis for direct goods

Ensure the relevant due diligence and buying process is adopted across all categories within remit.

Improve profitability by optimizing agreements and alignment with global contracts

Set up, initiate and maintain professional relationships with the regional supplier network in order

Set and deliver ambitious annual savings objectives to deliver the regional target achievement

Review and develop processes and procedures to better improve performance of the procurement function

Oversee and Manage the Production Planning function ensuring site and group objectives are achieved





Person Specification:

Ability to manage a team through change, driving best in class practices and gaining strong capability and expertise

Excellent collaborative approach and strong drive to change processes and procedures

Strong ability to engage with stakeholders and develop key relationships

Experience of Procurement of Logistics/ Supply Chain, 3pl suppliers

Strong experience of implementing strategic sourcing processes

Experience of mangaging a production planning function


There is potential flexibility once established to work one day a week from home.

University Degree or similar.

Background within Food Manufacturing, Foodservice or Retail Grocery industry preferred.
