Great potential within this role, our client who are leaders in providing pathology Services, have just gone Global and exciting opportunties have become available.

Two positions have opened up - one Senior and One Junior direct Category manager

Purpose.

To deliver an efficient and effective procurement service for Pathology Services on a specific/allocated portfolio of sourcing categories and contribute significantly to the delivery of procurement projects by analysing current and anticipated spend, achieving sustainable value improvements, and delivering measurable continuous improvement from supplier relationships. To meet customer requirements through demonstrating Procurement best practice and achieving value for money by actively assessing options and innovation opprotunities offered by suppliers, and subseueently driving compliance with category strategies and supplier contracts.

Duties

Support the Head of Procurement in the development of Purchasing / Category / Supplier strategies. Drive the identification and implementation of Category / Supplier strategies that meet business requirements Provide strategic direction to relevant colleagues, ensuring tactical decisions are aligned to (and enable) future strategies

Responsible for managing suppliers across highest spend service lines Lead identification and implementation of cost reduction initiatives across relevant service lines

Supplier Management.

Conduct supply market research to identify influences on category strategy. Identify and develop suppliers to support the organisation and its customers. Develop working relationship with partner organisations to leverage opportunities and increase business effectiveness. Prepare and issue the appropriate documentation to evidence progress made during competitive bidding processes

Negotiate prices with suppliers and shares agreed prices with relevant colleagues Manage supplier relationships to ensure the business needs are met using robust contracting methods. Prepare and collect data relating to service level agreements and contract performance measures

Stakeholder Engagement

Regularly meet with key customers to understand their issues or concerns and seeks to improve purchasing practice. Provide strategic direction to relevant colleagues, ensuring operational decisions are aligned to (and enable) future strategies Maintain and communicate the preferred supplier and approved product/service lists to business stakeholders.

Develop stakeholder communications on a broad range of issues as directed by the Head of Procurement and business needs. Develop relationships with stakeholders to understand the needs of the business and maintains appropriate stakeholder maps. Liaise proactively with stakeholders to identify opportunities to promote the work of Procurement and support their assigned business areas meet their objectives.

Requirements

Proven Commercial experience in private sector Procurement Or sales role.

Understanding of Contracts

CIPS qualfied (Desirable) working towards MCIPS

Has experience of managing a variety of spend categories, either in Category Manager or Junior Category Manager position.

Ability to manage own workload autonomously.

Ability to anticipate risks and proactively identify Value- add oppportunities.

Strong Financial and contracutual skills.

Demonstrable success in dealing with difficult stakeholders
