Commodity Manager - Plastics & Resins
A global leader in automotive systems is seeking a highly skilled and driven Commodity Manager to lead the sourcing strategy for injected plastic parts and resins managing a spend of $70-80mil.
This position plays a key role in the category team and needs to be able to be able to translate the overall strategy and objectives coming from the business, into a Commodity plan for their region (moving to Global), driving performance in cost, quality, and supply continuity.
You will be given the autonomy and environment to make decisions, act fast and deliver as well as shaping how the future looks within procurement!
You will work closely with a Global Category Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute strategic plans. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sourcing professional to contribute to a dynamic organization undergoing a transformation from regional to global operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute regional procurement strategies aligned with global objectives for injected plastics and resins
Identify and deliver year-over-year improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation
Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of commodity plans
Negotiate and manage supplier agreements with a focus on risk management and value optimization
Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary
Identify opportunities for cost and value optimization across the supply base
Support regional productivity initiatives by evaluating feasibility and ensuring implementation
Consolidate and align regional commodity activities with the global strategy
Ensure timely and accurate financial tracking in collaboration with regional finance teams
Lead contract execution and maintain compliance with relevant legal and commercial standards
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline
5-7+ years of experience in commodity or category management, with a strong focus on injected plastics
Background in automotive or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead and execute sourcing strategies with minimal supervision
Skilled in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost analysis
Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and sourcing systems/tools
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions and regions
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving business environment
