A prominent London-based educational establishment is seeking an ambitious, conscientious Category Buyer with exposure to both tactical purchasing and Procurement Operations to join their Procurement team during an exciting period of transformation and growth.

Reporting to the recently appointed Head of Procurement, the Category Buyer will ensure that essential goods and services are obtained in a timely manner and in full compliance with Procurement policy and procedures.

This is a transactional role focusing on PO approvals, supplier vetting, and other activities related to Procurement Operations, Systems and Governance. Additionally, the jobholder will assist with purchasing across a range of categories including Estates & Facilities, Professional Services, and IT.

You will be working alongside a friendly, collaborative group of individuals, under the expert tutelage of an accomplished Procurement leader who is keen to develop their team and promote from within.

The role would suit either a relatively junior candidate with a few years' transactional Procurement experience and a desire to progress, or a more established, steady career builder who is prepared to adapt and learn new ways of working.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years' transactional Procurement experience, incorporating both tactical buying and administrative/operational duties.
  • Proficiency in at least one major ERP system - Agresso would be a huge advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive, 'can do' attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Exposure to public sector frameworks and tendering processes, including knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations (desirable).
  • Degree educated / CIPS studier (desirable).
