Assistant Category Manager - 90% Remote
Location: Hybrid (with travel as required)
Salary: £38,000 - £46,500 (Band 6 equivalent)
Hours: 37.5 per week
Summary
We're seeking a motivated procurement professional to support strategic sourcing and category management across a range of non-clinical and corporate services. This mid-level role offers the chance to lead projects, deliver savings, and influence key stakeholders across multiple divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Procurement Business Partner in managing non-pay expenditure and category strategies.
Deliver value through effective sourcing, tendering, and contract management.
Lead procurement projects from planning to contract award.
Identify and implement savings opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Provide data analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations and internal governance.
About You
Essential:
Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
Strong understanding of procurement processes and category management.
Experience managing procurement projects end-to-end.
Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
Confident analysing data and using e-procurement tools (e-tendering, sourcing platforms, Excel).
Desirable:
Public sector or NHS procurement experience.
CIPS qualification (or willingness to study, funding available).
Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2).
