Assistant Category Manager - 90% Remote

Location: Hybrid (with travel as required)
Salary: £38,000 - £46,500 (Band 6 equivalent)

Hours: 37.5 per week


Summary

We're seeking a motivated procurement professional to support strategic sourcing and category management across a range of non-clinical and corporate services. This mid-level role offers the chance to lead projects, deliver savings, and influence key stakeholders across multiple divisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Procurement Business Partner in managing non-pay expenditure and category strategies.

  • Deliver value through effective sourcing, tendering, and contract management.

  • Lead procurement projects from planning to contract award.

  • Identify and implement savings opportunities and efficiency improvements.

  • Provide data analysis and reporting to support decision-making.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations and internal governance.


About You

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and category management.

  • Experience managing procurement projects end-to-end.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

  • Confident analysing data and using e-procurement tools (e-tendering, sourcing platforms, Excel).

Desirable:

  • Public sector or NHS procurement experience.

  • CIPS qualification (or willingness to study, funding available).

  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2).
