Category Manager - IT & Telecom
📍 Amsterdam
A leading international organisation is recruiting a Category Manager - IT & Telecom to support procurement and sourcing activities across its European operations. The role is responsible for securing clearly specified IT and Telecom products and services at the best possible total cost of ownership (TCO), while ensuring supplier performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead category support for Corporate IT functions across Europe
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the IT & Telecom category strategy
- Execute RFx processes, supplier negotiations, and tactical sourcing activities
- Manage supplier relationships and contractual commitments
- Ensure local and regional business requirements are reflected in procurement activities
- Support budgeting and business case development with pricing and sourcing insight
- Oversee buying activities and support Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process execution
- Collaborate closely with procurement teams, IT stakeholders, and operational functions
- Support regional and international procurement projects
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process efficiencies, and service improvements
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills
- Effective negotiation and networking capabilities
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Knowledge of IT procurement and Telecom categories
- Experience in contract and supplier relationship management
- Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Business or Technical discipline)
- 2-6 years' procurement experience within IT & Telecom
- Experience within a multi-country organisation is advantageous
- Fluent written and spoken English essential
- Additional languages beneficial
- Comfortable working on international projects and cross-functional initiatives
