Interim System Engineer

My client, a multinational energy company, are currently recruiting an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join their technology team for a 1 year and 5 months contract. This role is located in Northern Ireland.

You will work in a multdisciplinary environment, as the systems under test concern bespoke Software and Hardware sub-systems. You will be responsible for reviewing requirements and for verifying that products fulfil their functional and performance requirements by test.

Responsibilities:
* Focal point for all system test activities within the R&D environment
* Testing complex embedded software systems (both black box and white box)
* Develop an in-depth understanding of our products to provide a user / customer perspective
* Plan test step-ups based on specific use cases and technical requirements, in addition to defining efficient test strategies and necessary test infrastructure
* Work in close cooperation with developers for analysing bugs, key requirements, and test/system aspects
* Provide feedback to development team to improve design
* Develop tools and test setups to automate testing for rapid release schedules
* Evaluate field issues and propose solutions
* Types of testing:
o Graphical user interface testing
o Usability testing
o Software performance testing
o Compatibility testing
o Security testing
o Regression testing
o Installation testing
o Recovery testing

Requirements:
* A good numerate/science focused degree including (but not limited to) Mathematics, Physics, Engineering and Computer Science; or qualified to HNC level or above plus significant experience
* Strong inter-personal and communication skills
* Excellent report writing & presentation skills
* Ability to present complex data clearly with meaningful conclusions
* Ability to work with minimum supervision
* Able to plan and prioritise own work and deliverables
* Proficient with Microsoft office tools (word, excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable Requirements:
* Automation expertise (Python)
* Design, develop and execute automation scripts using Python
