Interim Electrical HVDC Engineer - £300-£400 per day

My client, a world leader in grid solutions, is seeking an experienced Interim Electrical Component Engineer at £300-£400 per day. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation at the forefront of their field for worldwide innovation.

The Role

You will be responsible for component electrical engineering activities and database management, including the following

  • Lead on design, validation and industrialisation of power electronic converter modules for HVDC & FACTs
  • Circuit simulation for design and testing
  • Specification of key power electronics components
  • Electronics and thermal design integration
  • Decisive in addressing technical hurdles and maintaining performance
  • Review and approve the drawings and design documentation when required
  • Ability to undertake deep technical reviews of technology with engineering experts
  • Implement and perform validation tests and proving tests

Requirements

  • In-depth Power Electronics and High Voltage knowledge (such as HVDC and FACTs applications, Variable-speed drives)
  • Power electronic components (IGBTs, thyristors, passive components)
  • Proven ability in product design, validation and industrialisation
  • Thermal Design (loss calculations, heatsink specification, CFD)
  • Power Electronic control & protection
  • Design for excellence (DFX) (e.g. manufacturing, cost, size, weight, efficiency, performance, test, maintenance)
