1st Executive have been retained by a leading Pharmaceutical company to recruit an Interim Marketing Category Manager on an initial 6 month contract paying up to £530 per day.

The key purpose of the role is to support the creation, execution, management and implementation of comprehensive Global sourcing strategies for Market Research and for Print, Point of Sale Material

The global strategy content developed will form a key component of the global sourcing strategy for the Marketing Function

The role will have responsibility to align and engage in the matrix organization (Procurement and Business), across geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive global sourcing strategy for spend categories.
  • Have a clear understanding of how global strategies affect local markets and the fit with regional strategy.
  • Build an education & communication process for in-country Procurement leads and business units.
  • Be the global expert in the spend categories within scope of responsibility.
  • Deliver global benefits, quality, service, cost and innovation.
  • Create and deliver effective global budgets (Plans of Purchase).
  • Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships.
  • Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective global contracts with suppliers (where required) that will allow the company to maximize opportunity globally.
  • Lead regional supply base reviews and global strategy reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Quantitative Sciences or Engineering and / or relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of Procurement especially within the Market Research or Marketing categories. OR
  • Relevant Market Research or Marketing experience with demonstration of transferable skills
  • English proficiency (written and oral), other language will be a plus
  • Strong Leadership / Communication skills
  • Proven negotiation, influencing and contract / supplier management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan strategies & lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to work remotely and successfully in global complex organisations
  • Use of Strategic Thinking to build relationship (with stakeholders and suppliers) and create sourcing plans
  • Strong knowledge of the role Marketing plays in large organisations
  • Ability to solve issues/blockage and support implementation and robustly forecast spend and saving
  • Ability to identify and manage risks
  • Ability to plan strategies & lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts
  • Full knowledge to deal with Microsoft tools
