Category Buyer - £45K - Leicestershire

As the Category Buyer, you will be joining the electrical category team, where you will be purchasing commodities such as components, wiring, harnesses, ECU's, Chassis control unites, suspension and other electronical based commodities. The spend for this position will be roughly £10 million, which will be split between a blend of tactical and strategic procurement.

You will design, develop, and implement category strategies and sourcing initiatives with the aim of:

• Supporting Company's continued success and growth
• Reducing BOM and development costs
• Maintaining and building on the current high-quality standards
• Reducing development lead-times and, identifying efficiencies within the production process
• Identifying new market technologies and driving their implementation to enhance product line up
• Effectively managing risks and opportunities within the supply chain

You will collaborate with the wider product, design and Quality Control (QC) functions and champion the development of the performance of the existing supply base.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a selection of suppliers for a given commodity group(s).
• Manage and own the sourcing and development activities of components
• Develop purchasing and procurement strategy for your commodities, ensuring best value and quickest and most suitable sources for new model development programmes.
• Perform category management including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract, performance and risk management.
• Evaluate cost data and quotation analyses for supplier selections.
• Identify cost saving opportunities and developing a strategy through Value Engineering (VE) or negotiations.

Person Requirements:

Essential:

• Maths and English GSCE grade C or above
• Proficient in Microsfot packages including Excel, Word, Outlook
• Effective organsiational skills and time management
• Ability to work under pressure
• Expereince within a Purchasing and Procurement department

Desirable:

• Degree in Business or Engineering related field
• Experience in an automotive / manufacturing environment
• Experience purchasing electrical commodities
