Brief:

A world leading brand in the energy market engaged 1st Executive to source a heavyweight 3PL/4PL expert with both strategic operational and global sourcing experience based out of their key European location in the Netherlands. The remit involved advising and directing a business case to outsource every area of global logistics valued at c$10bn through a single 4PL model. On the basis this was an unprecedented outsourcing programme it presented 1st Executive with the challenge of sourcing an absolute top-tier Logistics professional with large scale global outsourcing experience. Solution:

The scale and size of the project determined the need to adopt a proactive approach by targeting the European Logistics market across both 3/4PLs, Consultancies and Global manufacturing corporates, as well as identifying organisations with synergy across the scale of their logistics on a global scale. We supported the headhunt activity with a large scale e-advertising campaign across all major European Job boards and social networks combined with database search and network referral activity. Our approach utilised 1st Executives Research team to infiltrate logistics networks and groups, identifying and approaching key senior candidates.

Outcome:

16 candidates were shortlisted and identified as contenders - following 1st Executive competency interviews and assessment, a final 3 were shortlisted. Following client process and assessment, offer and acceptance was secured within a 6 week timeframe. Key to our success was adopting a detailed search methodology, even though this was non retained, delivering against 2 competitor suppliers on the PSL, both of whom were based in the Netherlands.
